Hrm, well here are the fanlistings. I… tend to be quite critical of fanlistings, ever since the big boom in fanlistings, where everyone and their cat seems to own fanlistings and pass it off as content. While many of the fanlistings are excellent, shrine-like dedications to a topic, too many I’ve seen just hog a subject just because they got there first. Bah. But on the other hand… something in me can’t help but be drawn to the idea of putting my name down “officially” to something I like and have other people know about it. Kinda like “interests” in LJ.

Inspiralised - I was flabbergasted when Janice made a fanlisting to lil’ old me! Apparently owned by Shaza now. I’m much humbled by the thought. ^^;

Anime/Manga

  • Azumanga Daioh - One of the funniest and most random anime I’ve seen. At first I was a little put off by the randomness, but it’s well worth it for the adorableness of the characters (my favourite is Tomo, she’s hilariously evil). The one-offness of each episode makes it easy to rewatch in any particular order.
  • Cowboy Bebop - *___* Wow… an anime that is as close to perfect as one can imagine. Great graphics, funny, endearing and memorable characters, great mini-stories, great plot, and a heavenly soundtrack to tie it all together.
  • Fruits Basket - I don’t think I’ve rewatched an anime series as many times as I’ve seen Fruits Basket. It’s heartwarming, funny and it has the most diverse set of lovable characters! Much love to Shigure and Ayame. :D
  • Ouran Koukou Host Club (anime) - One of the best recent anime I’ve watched. Heart-warming, original, adorable and hilarious it is! I love the mildly self-aware, parody of shoujo themes that run throughout this anime, yet creating absolutely endearing characters along the way. Haruhi is the resilient without being ditzy female protagonist and each of the male members of the host club are delightful in their own way. <3 Tamaki! I highly recommend this sometimes off-the-wall, always heartfelt anime to all!
  • My Neighbour Totoro - Even though I absolutely adore Studio Ghibli for all their diverse and wonderful works, My Neighbour Totoro was the first Ghibli film I’ve seen, when I was very small, and it is my favourite ever since. I absolutely LOVE the concept of the movie, and the Totoros are OH SO FLUFFY!!!
  • Tokyo Babylon - Aaaaaaaaangst. Ah I used to read the most TB fanfiction and in some ways, the fanfics really added together to give the story more context than it provided. Such a tragic tale.

Animation/Cartoon

  • Pucca - Self-plug! I got to adopt this fanlisting. Favouritest cartoon character ever! I love this little Chinese girl with her aggressively endearing love for her crush, Garu. It’s so cute how she does awfully hilarious things to single-mindedly get with her crush. The many flash animations created to her name are great to watch.
  • Animaniacs - Possibly the cleverest cartoon I’ve ever seen! The songs they had were just fabulous; educational, witty and funny!

Gaming

  • Dance Dance Revolution - Ah what an addictive game! Who would have thought, no only is it addictively fun, involves catchy music AND is good exercise?
  • Harvest Moon - Even though I’ve only finished the SNES version of HM, I’ve played the GB, GBC, GBA, N64, PS and PS2 versions of HM. Addicted much? :P I have a terrible concentration span, but I can never help at least trying out new HM versions. They just get more and more diverse with each new version! Lots of fun if one has the spare time.
  • Kuja - My favourite gaming character ever (besides the one I created in NWN)! He is the deliciously pretty but tragic villian of FF9.
  • Final Fantasy IX - While many wouldn’t say it’s the best FF game, it certainly holds a warm spot in my heart. I love the graphics, how the colours are usually so warm and vibrant, and the slight rustic look to the whole game. The music is beautiful and it’s generally a fun game to play.
  • NeverWinter Nights - I would say it’s the best game I’ve ever played. Unlike other RPGs where you play out a premade character, here you have the freedom to create a character much more freely. I love the stories (both in the main game and expansion packs) and especially the many sidequests. Spent probably a good 100 hours on it! :D
  • Neverwinter Nights 2 - Self-plug! I own this fanlisting. :3 I adore this game as much as I adored the first game. Requires a mighty computer to play, but so much fun!
  • Phoenix Wright (series) - I honestly bought (well Tim bought) my Nintendo DS just to play these two games! I fell in love with the idea of a game where you get to play as a lawyer and had such high expectations for it and I can’t believe the two games lived up to my expectations! Both challenging, endearing and funny! I hope third would be a third English release.

Literature

  • Discworld series - While usually I avoid the fantasy genre, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett is one that I addictively follow. Every since I read “Small Gods” and being stunned by the wit and wry commentaries mixed with tongue-in-cheek randomness, I had scoured libraries and bookstores for his books. Very original series.
  • Lestat - My favourite character EVER. I’ve been such a fangirl of the Vampire Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles ever since Year 7. It killed me seeing how his character degraded in the later books, but it’s not difficult to remember of his former glory. Who wouldn’t like the rebel, courageous, well-dressed and every so slightly deranged handsome vampire?
  • Roald Dahl - One of my most favourite authors, I loved his books as a child. They were so imaginative, written so gracefully and with so much wit, and all with touches of darkness to them, it was a delight to discover each new story. JK Rowling can’t hold a candle to the greatness of Roald Dahl’s works.

TV

  • House - Favourite TV show ever! I don’t usually watch TV, but DAMN this is a addictive show. Gregory House is possible one of the most interesting and funny characters in existence. The script is brilliant and the cases are always intriguing. <3!!
  • The Daily Show - Best news/satire show ever! Jon Stewart is an amazingly funny guy and the rest of the cast is pretty awesome too (I especially love Demetri Martin’s “Trendspotting” segments). I absolutely love how they so very cleverly criticise American politics without it being boring.
  • The Colbert Report - Ah, Colbert and his massive balls. I love this show as much as the Daily Show and that’s a hell of a lot! It’s quite impressive how Colbert is so good at thinking on his feet and his over-the-top satire as a loud-mouth conservative is pretty hilarious!
  • Peep Show - One of the funniest UK comedies I’ve ever seen. I had the chance to watch a few episodes of it when it was on cable at my bf’s place, and it was hilarious! I love the characters of Jeremy and Mark, but dysfunctional yet so endearing in their own fumbling ways. I bought the first and second seasons for my boyfriend’s birthday, one of the best investments ever made. :D Unfortunately it’s only 6 episodes per season, shames there’s not more of it nor a bigger promotion overseas either.
  • Monty Python - Absolute hilarity! I came across them on TV when I was about 10 years old and I’d like to think that my sense of humour (and appreciation from humour) had it’s foundations from watching the bits of Monty Python that was on. A decade or so later, I was able to locate all the episodes and was able to pick up the subtle and obvious comic genius that was involved in many of the sketches. Loved the movies too!

Movies

  • My Fair Lady - Self-plug! I’ve watched this movie many times and I found it a delight each time. One of the early “makeover” movies, I love the songs and the quaintly snobbish attitudes of upper class England as portrayed. The costumes are a delight too. I think Audrey Hepburn is so pretty and endearing in this movie, my most favourite movie role of hers.
  • Mulan - Possibly my most favourite Disney movie (and not because I’m biased towards the Chinese :P). I love how gutsy and brave she is, yet still loveable and endearing. The songs are great too, especially the song “Honour to Us All”. I also like how the male love interest isn’t some daft, “pretty” Disney prince but a geniunely capable guy.
  • The Aristocats - This was one of the earliest Disney movies I watched and I absolutely loved it. I watched a Cantonese dub of it and it was soo adorable! I now own the movie and have seen it a few times. My favourite scene of it is when the cats sing the song “Scales and Arpeggios”.
  • 300 - Ha! What a fun movie this was! Flashy battle scenes, nekkid ladies, 5 million abs… what more can one ask for? I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie, even if it’s utterly brainless and violent.

Music/Musicals

  • Savage Garden - Favourite band! Waaah it’s terrible how they disbanded, I loved all their songs. Along with Darren Hayes’ voice, and the insightful lyrics and catchy tunes mostly produced by Daniel Jones, their two CDs are one of the most listened to CDs I own.
  • 1990s music - Gah I am such a 90s girl when it comes to music. From Hanson to Spice Girls, its the trashy, but undeniably poppy tunes that got me through the early years. There was such variety in those days, that new music can’t seem to really match.
  • Spice Girls - Ha! I love their music, my favourite song being “Viva Forever” (not that difficult to guess, is it?) followed by “Stop”. Their movie was a fun, brainless and entertaining romp too. I can’t believe it’s been so many years since they’ve split!
  • The Scarlet Pimpernel - I ordered the soundtrack for the musical somewhat on a whim, given how I’ve never seen the musical, though I did love the song “The Creation of Man” that I knew was from it, and I was quite enchanted by the black and white movie adaptation of the story. But this musical has proven to be one of the best I’ve ever heard and is one of my absolute favourites. Almost all the songs are wonderful in their own right; often heart-wrenchingly sad, always very passionate. All the main voices are beautiful too.
  • Violin - Violins are definitely my favourite instrument. I love the raw sounds of the violin, it can be so passionate, sensual and emotive! I wish I got to take lessons in it, but alas, that never happened. Music, regardless of genre, always gets brownie points from me when they incorporate violin music.

People/Websites

  • Alex - One of my favourite and most admired net person I know. Her sites are amazing, her writing has such fun and flair to it, and to top it all off, she does a lot of both! I love talking to her on AIM whenever I remember I have that program, I always leave the conversations in a cheery mood, with my head brimming with inspired, creative ideas (not that they pan out but that’s another story).

Everything else

  • Mozilla Firefox - Best browser. Tabbing = best thing since sliced bread.
  • Origami - Crafting interests come and go for me but I’ve always been the be a huge fan of paper folding. :D
  • Crochet - My new found interest! It’s been a confusing but ultimately rewarding learning experience! It’s pretty fun to just sit around and crochet while watching (or listening) to something good. Buying yarn would eventually be a pretty costly investment I think though… ^^;
  • Crafting - Extends out from my interest in crochet and origami. Now I dabble in a bit of knitting too. I love looking at people’s crafted projects as well as hoarding tutorials and tips people so generously write up.
