Waffles Shouldn’t Cost Almost $10
Gaming, Life December 10th, 2007So! Today (technically yesterday since it’s 3:23am), Xuan, Tracey and I met up with Amanda on her last day visiting Sydney. Xuan has already written out a nicely detailed recount of what happened (with pictures!) so there’s no need for me to repeat what he’s already said. Here’s a couple more of my own tidbits:
- I felt absolutely horrible for being 40 minutes late to get to the meeting place; a delayed bus meant missing out on trains I needed to catch to get there on time. Grr. But at least the guys were really nice about having to wait for me to show up!
- I remember remarking during lunch, “hrm if only we brought cameras” only for the three of them to immediately reach into their bags to take out their respective cameras. Damn me for not being more prepared!
- it is amazing how Amanda can just walking from one shop to the next in a seemingly untiring way. Towards the end of the day, Xuan, Tracey and I were shuffling after Amanda and clamouring for seats to sit on where we can as she shopped. I know other people who can do that too, it’s mind-boggling how much stamina they have for shopping so extensively.
- Speaking of shopping, while I had previously concluded that I’d never find anything that fits me and is within budget, I was happily proven wrong today. I bought a lovely suit jacket from Events that was on sale that happens to fit me very snuggly (but just a tiny bit tight around the waist). I’ll let the receipt do the talking (red bits added by me):

All in all, it was an excellent but exhausting meeting! :D
In other news, the other day I got to participate in my first game of Dungeons and Dragons! I played as a level 3 bard as there was already an existing group of players with fighters, sorcerer, cleric etc… just not a bard. It was lots of fun, with me entering the story at a point where it just begun to get kinda epic. I didn’t get to actually say or do very much, which I didn’t mind as it allowed me to see how the others roleplayed.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
The “total amount saved” is such an indication that you were shopping with Amanda. :P
Ditto on what Amber said.
I feel obligated to tell everybody involved how cool I find this.
Those looked like some pretty darn good waffles, though.
You’re going to love D&D. Right now I’m a level 6 Crusader. I’ve played a Wizard and a Cleric before this. I only hope I can find a group of people to play with after I graduate.
I’m amazed by your ability (and by Amanda’s) to find something that costs less than 20% of the original price. Excellent job with that jacket. :D Also, the waffle looks like it was delicious - *yum*. I’m jealous of your outing.
Knitting bloggers meet up all the time. Seeing bloggers not in that circle meeting up? Stephanie confused. OMFG, you mean bloggers that aren’t knitting bloggers AREN’T crazy people out to get you that you should stay away from for forever?!
Commented on Xuan’s entry already, but I’ll say it again. Glad you all had fun! :D I should go to Australia one of these days. Most of my e-friends are down there. :)
You know, it’s really all about discipline and practise. :P The more you walk and shop, the faster your legs and feet become accustomed to the pain and they work through it. :)
It was wonderful to meet up with you all…it’s definitely something we have to try and do more often.
YOU GOT A FREAKING BLAZER FOR $19!!1!!!1~ I’ll never let you live this down … nevarrr! Although it was actually
… quite a good discount. Why, oh why, does my enter key hate me? But I do agree. Amanda can just … well she could bloody go on for DAYS the way she was going. Jesus, woman!
Photos are on my blog (of course) and in a Facebook album on me profile, so steal whatever you’d like. :D ‘Twas great to meet everyone, too.
Awww I just read Xuan’s post and I’m sitting here being oh-so-envious. Why can’t they build a bridge across the sea between NZ and Australia? Then I’d tag along too. :P The waffles look sooo good and Amanda’s just a plain crazy woman.
I guess all the money you saved shopping makes up for the overpriced waffles! The waffles looked really, really yummy in Xuan’s pictures.
That is so amazing! I want to meet bloggers too! I’m so jaeluoz! I read Xuan’s post too, the pictures are lovely, and looks like you guys had a of of fun :)
Imagine if they really did print :D smilies on receipts.. that’d be fun. Hehe.
Now y’all got to fly to the UK and meet up with me!
Wow, it sounds like you had an awesome time! I didn’t realise there were so many bloggers in Sydney/Australia (e-Asians FTW) XD
Congrats on the massive discount find, at first I’d thought the underlined part was the COST of the jacket. Clothes shopping is usually an exercise in futility and frustration — anything that looks good on the shelf/mannequin never does when you actually try it on. x__x
D&D is great fun, especially if you have a good group of players/DM, and the stories can really draw you in. ^^ Bards are the best class evar! That’s what I usually pick hehe, somewhat predictably (Neutral Good or Neutral Evil). What’s your alignment and race?
Hey Belinda, change my link ;) I guess I kinda forgot to tell you or visit you :(
I can’t believe you got a blazer that cheap! *jealousy emerges* I have to borrow my mom’s because I don’t want to buy one simply because it’s expensive. $160 saved. Imagine how much ice cream I could buy with that :P
It agree, it very dearly would be necessary to lower the prices.
