Holidays!
Craft, Watched June 26th, 2007Well exams are finally over and I’ve been enjoying these few days just sleeping in late, watching movies, reading comics and chilling out. I finally watched My Best Friend’s Wedding (what.. I’m ten years behind?) and man I’ve never hated a character so much in my life! Julia Roberts’ character is more unethical in my eyes than any villain, ever. Sure, she “redeemed” herself in the end, but God, so much of the movie is about her being such a self-centred, competitive BITCH it absolutely boils my blood! But teehee, I did find Cameron Diaz’s character quite adorable and Rupert Everett’s gay charm to have saved the movie.
I also watched Shrek the Third today and awww I don’t think it’s as bad as so many people say. Sure, it’s not as funny as the other two but it still made me laugh frequently. I liked the lines “HE’S GOT A PIANO!” and “I’ve always wanted to play the flute.” xD And what I also watched today was The Rocky Horror Picture Show (look, only 32 years late, cut me some slack). It was… definitely what I wasn’t expected. It was campy and confusing but I think I think it was important for a film of that time to push the boundaries of conservatism and sexuality.
Last but not least I bought yarn today. Burgundy and yellow yarn. What am I making?

Yes, a Gryffindor scarf! The colours are not EXACTLY right, but they’re as close as I could find at my local craft store. Hopefully I’d get it finished by the movie coming out! Either way, it’ll be warm too with it being 100% wool. :)

Congratulations on your holiday, it’s great to be able to relax for once. I agree with you that Julia Roberts’ character in My best friend’s wedding is quite unethical, I had to close my eyes several times while watching the movie because of the embarrassing things she did. It’s really cool that you’re making a Gryffindor scarf, my friends actually had this knitting club where they made Harry Potter scarfs for one of the movies. I can’t wait for the fifth movie to come out, I’m going to the midnight premiere, although I don’t have a scarf.
My Gryffindor scarf is around 40% done. Lets WOW the web with our Gryffindor pride, Belinda!
Man, it’s at times like this I wish I could knit! I’ve been bored out of my mind for the past week ever since I was done with my exams. I will SO make a Ravenclaw one just to spite all you Gryffindors (or force my mum to make me one).
Man, you know what I might take up crocheting for? I really, really want a crocheted beret! Knitted might work better but I could never, ever, in a million years learn to knit. It looks so hard (two needles? No hooks to hold the yarn? O_O). But I digress.
That scarf is pretty cool lookin’. I’m no Harry Potter fan but I loooove scarves. :D
I wish that I was crafty or that I could simply knit and crochet! Your scarf is going to turn out lovely. I’m behind on Harry Potter… I haven’t read all of the books that are out now nor have I have seen all of the movies. I suppose that I’m behind, in general. Don’t feel bad. I haven’t seen either of the movies you’ve posted about nor have I seen Shrek 1 or 2. Soon, I shall move out from under my rock. XD
Awesome! Gryffindor scarf, eh? xD You know that make us riiiiiiiiivals! XD Man… I would wear my HP costume to the opening weekend of the movie, but the movie theatre at the base… guess when its opening weekend is?! … The same weekend the last book comes out. $(#)$#)_*$#)$_*_$# So I had to say SOD the movie. XD But anyway… it would be TOO hot to wear my full costume anywhere. I would die of a heatstroke!
Hi Belinda!
Thanks for your comments. I used fimo clay and also the props i meant was the background that will be used to take photos of my jewelry creations. :)
I saw the new harry potter preview! So the Hermione girl decided to play the part yes? Or is that extremely a close look alike Oo;…
Harry Potter is so great! I love the Halloween ish feeling. :)
My Best Friends wedding…is that where she wore a ring and the guy had to pull it of with his teeth? Gosh I somehow hated that movie, that guy kissed her WHILE HE WAS ENGAGED TO HIS FIANCE. die die die die. >__
To Ragnhild: Ooh neat, premiere! I don’t think I’ll be going when it’s just out (too many people would be seeing it) and I don’t think my scarf would be ready by then anyway. ^^;
To Amber: Whoo! :D I’m trying to figure out circular knitting… is that how you’re doing it? God, it’s so confusing!!!
To Ramsha: Actually those HP sorting quizzes online keep putting me in Ravenclaw but I like Gryffindor colours better. ^^; Knitting isn’t that difficult but doing it in the rounds is currently confusing the crap out of me.
To Kudarania: Ah if you can point me to a crochet pattern for a beret (there are a few online but I don’t know what kinda style you like) and I guess your head size and colour preference, I could whip one up for you! It shouldn’t be that hard. But yeah… knitting intimidates me a lot more than crochet but eh live and learn. :P
To Chantelle: Actually I’m not that big a HP fan myself… I’ve seen all the movies but only read the first four books… the upcoming movie would mean I wouldn’t need to read the book! Whoo!
To Tara: I thought it was clever of them to set the dates so close! Their coffers are going to absolutely EXPLODE with money!
To Jihyun: Yup all the old cast are going to be in it, though I had heard that some of them had thought about pulling out a while ago. And yes, that ring with mouth scene was in it. Ugh. The love interest was a really boring guy anyway.
I love that after exam feeling, where you have nothing to do, so you just chill out and relax. I have been using the time to go shopping, browse the internet, open my website and read HP books.
I saw My Best Friend’s Wedding on TV once. Your assessment of Roberts character is spot-on. I’m flummoxed how her role could have endeared her to millions of people across America. She was the embodiment of all things wrong with women.
Awww I’m jealous! I’d love to knit a HP scarf (only a Slytherin one, of course. Pfft!). Can’t wait for the book and the movie!
Oh, how cool! I want a gryffindor scarf!
Huzzah for holidays! :D
I’d love to have my own Slytherin scarf but then it’ll be pointless to wear them on our tropical weather. :P I’m all hyped up for the movie and book.
