Claudia’s Great Idea
Life, Literary, Musings June 3rd, 2007If anyone has ever read The Baby-Sitters Club you would know that Claudia Kishi, the Vice President, stocks junk food in her room. When I was somewhat obsessed interested in the series back in primary school, I thought that was the best idea in the world.
I still do.
In my desk drawers amongst all my papers, I keep a steady stock of rice crackers and muesli bars and on my desk I have jars of various types of chocolate. This has been somewhat of a life saver for someone like me who stays up late (most of the time due to procrastinating, other times due to needing to do last minute work resulting from said procrastination) and who is too lazy to go get food from the kitchen. I sometimes fear that if I ever lived alone, I’d risk dying from starvation as my disinterest in food, preference for sleeping and along with my general distractability means it’s likely I’ll just curl up and sleep from hunger weakness rather than actually getting food.
…I don’t care what anyone says, I still think BSC was a pretty awesome series. ¬_¬
So what’s one thing YOU’VE learnt from books?

BWAHAHAHAHA! BSC ROCKED! I’ve been rereading the ones I have lately; been on a huge kick with it! And I learned that, too. Stashing junk food is awesome. ^_^ And what have I learned from books… ? Gosh… a lot XD But I can’t think of anything at the moment.
And since you liked the BSC… this will be funny to you:

LOL!
i went on tha site earlier 2day since i have a report on Claudia Due on the 4rth of Oct. I literally read the whole thing and i Laughed my head off! good information but to much cussing LMAO
I love the Babysitters Club. :) I have to admit though, Stacey was always my favourite…Claudia seemed more flaky.
From Sweet Valley High, I learnt the difference between American and Australian sizing. :P I couldn’t see how the Wakefield’s could be perfect size 6’s and yet be 5′7…then I found out size 6 American is size 10 Australian. :)
Oh, man, I STILL sometimes read the Babysitter’s Club when I want something easy to help me fall asleep at night. Yeah, I’m a freak. My favorites always changed, but I really liked Claudia and Abby.
And that is such a great idea. I often have snacks in my room, too. Heck yes.
The site Tara posted up? It’s by far one of the greatest things I’ve ever read on the Internet.
“I sometimes fear that if I ever lived alone, I’d risk dying from starvation as my disinterest in food…”
Woah, seriously? It’s just when I’m on the computer that I forget about food. Otherwise, I’d be sitting in the dining room /while/ I’m doing something. Especially when I’m not doing anything, LOL.
@Kudarania: Abby sucked. :P She wasn’t part of the original lineup! Original four FTW!
I’m embarrassed to say that when I used to read BSC, I thought the whole Logan and Mary Anne relationship was the cutest thing in the world.
I didn’t really like Dawn but then again I can’t remember if that’s the Dawn I don’t like or whether I’m confusing her for Dawn as Buffy’s “sister” in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Because I definitely didn’t like the latter. I remember it was woah, such a huge thing when Stacey had to go to hospital after eating too many sweet things before Christmas and triggering her diabetes. :P
To Tara: That’s a great site! Wow, so many reviews!
To Amanda: I hated the Sweet Valley High books! Although to be honest, I didn’t really read too many of them… I thought they were horribly stuck up and terrible characters. :P
I used to love the Baby-Sitter’s club! Claudia and Mary-Anne were my favorite characters. I remember how Claudia always used to pull out snacks before the meetings but she’d have to hide them before Stacy got there because she was diabetic.
Other than that, I have nothing useful to contribute because almost everything I learn is from books :P
Baby-Sitters club was my favourite when I was younger. I reckon that I’ve pretty much read them all. Harry Potter is actually very wise. Especially some of the things Harry and Dumbledore say - i.e. about choices, life/death, that type of thing.
Belinda. More timely posts about book series from over a decade ago, please.
