Holidays!

Well exams are finally over and I’ve been enjoying these few days just sleeping in late, watching movies, reading comics and chilling out. I finally watched My Best Friend’s Wedding (what.. I’m ten years behind?) and man I’ve never hated a character so much in my life! Julia Roberts’ character is more unethical in my eyes than any villain, ever. Sure, she “redeemed” herself in the end, but God, so much of the movie is about her being such a self-centred, competitive BITCH it absolutely boils my blood! But teehee, I did find Cameron Diaz’s character quite adorable and Rupert Everett’s gay charm to have saved the movie.

I also watched Shrek the Third today and awww I don’t think it’s as bad as so many people say. Sure, it’s not as funny as the other two but it still made me laugh frequently. I liked the lines “HE’S GOT A PIANO!” and “I’ve always wanted to play the flute.” xD And what I also watched today was The Rocky Horror Picture Show (look, only 32 years late, cut me some slack). It was… definitely what I wasn’t expected. It was campy and confusing but I think I think it was important for a film of that time to push the boundaries of conservatism and sexuality.

Last but not least I bought yarn today. Burgundy and yellow yarn. What am I making?

Yes, a Gryffindor scarf! The colours are not EXACTLY right, but they’re as close as I could find at my local craft store. Hopefully I’d get it finished by the movie coming out! Either way, it’ll be warm too with it being 100% wool. :)

Another meme? What’s this… Livejournal?

Tagged by Josh. Apparently I’m supposed to write about six weird things about myself. I object to the use of “weird” but here’s six not-so-well-known things about me. This sounds like something I would’ve done before, but oh well, here goes.

  1. Coffee and I don’t go so well.
I usually like drinking coffee (1 spoon of condensed milk or milk + 2 spoons of sugar, thanks!) but lately I found it upsets my stomach. Badly. This has proven to be quite sucky as during exam times I *need* coffee to keep me awake (although it ends up just making me feel jittery and distracted) but it invariably leads to discomfort. Bah.
  2. I am terrible at catching things.
Throw something at me and chances are, I wouldn’t catch it. Even if you’re quite close. I don’t know whether it’s just a lack of practice or I have terrible hand/eye coordination or something. The only thing I’m decent at catching are colds.
  3. I never have had lucid dreams.
I think I mentioned this before, but here it is again! I’ve never been conscious of dreaming though I know so many people have one time or another. I dream A LOT, especially during stressful times, but whether they are good or bad dreams I’m never aware that it’s not real (no matter how ridiculous the premise).
  4. I’ve never sprained any part of me or broken any bones.
My coordination has never been very good, used to trip a lot when I was a teen. But luckily enough I’ve never broken or sprained anything. Maybe because I spent my childhood being a bookworm and avoiding physical exercise.
  5. I get cold incredibly easily.
I’m okay with heat and Summers (though it can get quite unbearable in Australia) but I hate the cold so very much. Even autumn temperatures would give me chills and send me searching for something more to wear.
  6. When I was younger, I’ve actually read my Australian Oxford Dictionary, one page after another.
… Until somewhere in “N”. There was a time I was fascinated with words. Yeah… pretty nerdy. ¬_¬

LAST ASSIGNMENT TO GIVE IN TOMORROW! THEN I HAVE A BREAK UNTIL 31ST JULY!! WOOOOOT!! :D

Two assignments down, one more to go (due Friday). Ran about 50 steps today to get my essay in under high stress conditions, couldn’t run any more, heart absolutely burned like nothing before. Note to self: exercise plzkthx.

Finished watching Heroes as celebration tonight. GREAT SHOW OR GREATEST SHOW?! (Hint: it’s the latter)

Received volume two and three of “Spider-man Loves Mary Jane” from amazon.com. Speedy service, excellent packaging but it stings that shipping from the US costs more than the two comics combined. Ouch. Won’t be able to read till Friday though.

Lulz from this tempts me to try the Legacy Challenge. Also would have to wait till after Friday.

Too much l33t speak in this entry.

Exhausted!

What are your default assumptions of people’s responses when:

  1. You seem to need help with something
  2. They seem to need help with something

For me, whenever I could do with another hand, for some reason I assume that people wouldn’t want to help unless they’re offering it, which is why I’m somewhat loathed to ask people for help (maybe it’s due to the repeat occurrences in the past where my dad did his whole exasperation thing whenever I needed him to drive me somewhere). However, when it seems other people need a hand, I assume that they want help but just hasn’t asked for it yet. I worry that I might inadvertently seem pushy sometimes when I ask people if they want my help with their task.

Tagged by Avaris. Not sure how many I’m supposed to put, but here’s five (in no particular order):

  1. My current living environments: Wild, rainy weather here in Sydney recently quite vividly reminds me how fortunate I am to be living in a warm, functioning and comfortable house. There were times in my childhood when that was not the case (once where I lived when I was quite young, one of the windows to one of the houses I lived in actually blew off during a particularly rainy night, and my poor mother was the only one there to try to patch things up as best as she could).
  2. My mum: Bestest role model of my life. She basically held up our whole household financially, even if that meant she sacrificed a lot of her own time and happiness for us.
  3. Tim: Okay, everything that I could say here would be so INCREDIBLY MUSHY your brain would explode, so I’ll just leave it out. :P Just say he’s on the list.
  4. Reason and Rationality: I feel blessed that I’ve encountered people and been educated to value the importance of reason and rationality. I’m glad I live at a time of growing awareness of the power of thinking and discourse over tradition, culture and other arbitrary social pressures (especially the harmful type). We’re not totally there yet, but we’re on our way.
  5. Friends: I’m thankful for those who stuck around.

I tag: Everyone who’s so much as THOUGHT about doing this meme!

More substantial entry coming soon, exam season has commenced.
