And so I got a job right…

AND I’M SO BLEEDING TIRED. Argh. For those wondering, I’ve worked for three days now at Taronga Zoo, selling icecream and drinks. The pay ranges from “OMGTHAT’SALLIGOT??????” to “WHEEEEEMONEY!”. Today was thankfully the latter, scoring a handy $230ish. The thing is, we get paid commission based, 10% of everything we sell, so how much we earn depends on how much people buy.

But arrrrrrrrrrgh my feet hate me. I’ve been standing for 9 hours straight EVERY SINGLE DAY, with only a 15 minute break in the first two days and none today (not even for lunch!). One of my toes feel actually numb, a little anaethesised-like. And the other crap thing is, getting there is such a hassle, it means getting up at 6:10am everday. And I am *so* not a morning person (I only really wake up mentally after 11am).

But so far I don’t hate it too much. It gets really hectic when you have 20 people lining up and there’s not much stock left and you’ve been waiting 1/2 hour for much requested icecream and drinks. Other times, it’s really quiet and I got bored shitless. It got me thinking, being situation across from the koalas who’s grey coat does actually camouflage with the dull green eucalpytus leaves, that wow, giant pandas are REALLY SHIT at camouflaging. I mean like, big bold black and white thing amongst all that bamboo? I suppose they can just squash any predator (what eats pandas anyway? O_o). Argh my brain has been leaking out of my ears. I think my IQ is decreasing from all that standing around smiling and asking “how may I help you?” fifty million times. I can’t afford to lose my IQ! I don’t have much of that to start off with! :(

BTW, to those who don’t know, KOALAS AREN’T BEARS!!! They are marsupials. It does grate a little when you hear kiddies and people running up and saying “wow, look at those koala bears!”. At least I don’t go into murderous rage like my friend who is rather picky about that.

What IS extremely irritating is, when you get families with ten gzillion eight or so kids, who are all like, five years old, screaming and whinging ALL AT ONCE for icecreams of all different kinds, and when they FINALLY finish picking, the kids would have changed their minds and then the picking process continues until about forever. There was this one kid today, who was screaming shrilly “I WANT THE GREEN ONE, I WANT THE GREEN ONE I WANT THE GREEN ONE!!!!!!” x100000 while jumping up and down. I was so tempted to scream back, “I’M GETTING THE FUCKING GREEN ONE FOR YOU, CAN YOU SHUT UP FOR 10 SECONDS????”. >_< Is this like, some kinda implicit karma going on here?

Lots of tourists = lots of different accents. I got an Irish sounding woman ask for a “Corn-e-oh”, and it took a bit of a time to realise she was asking for a Cornetto. And all these people asking what Paddlepops were (or as one person put it, “Poddlepop”). For those who don’t know, Paddlepops are just icrecream on a stick. Made by Streets, aren’t those available all around the world though?

But yeah, argh. Gonna be working until Sat probably (hopefully with a day off in between). Sigh, there’s so much I need to buy and debts to pay off (to my mum). But I’m planning to work until I get around $1000 and see how I go (have to compile a “to spend” list soon), whether I’d continue (probably will, but just work a lot less days). So yeah, ANYONE HERE GOING TO TARONGA SOON, just holler and come find me, I’d give free icecream, drinks and chocolate. ^_~

BTW, if anyone curious about the results for psych test below, so far I’ve gotten 27 responses (there were two more, but I positive the low scores were cos the two people already knew where the test was heading) and the average was 3.81. So you people who took it generally a little more cynical than the average American!

Spent the afternoon setting up a personality test… with a twist. A hand’s on equivalent of a rant. Please follow the instructions all the way up to the end, feel free to comment on what you think here. For those who haven’t done the test, I suggest don’t look at the comments in case of spoilers.

As music blasted raucously from speakers, I sat on the floor, happily wrapping up Christmas presents (legitimate reason to play with scissors and tape, woot! ^^).

Three things of note:
1. Wrapping paper is very fiddly, especially trying it keep it stay put on slightly rounded rectangular boxes.
2. Like most humans, I only have two hands.
3. I usually don’t think before I act.

So anyway, there I was on the floor, a side of the paper well creased, with my right hand holding it down. The piece of sticky tape is in my left, waiting to be guided down to the proper spot. Suddenly, my right hand slips, and the well-positioned piece of paper slips also. To right it, two hands were momentarily needed.

So I thought, it’s alright, I’ll put the piece of tape between my teeth for a second while I right this.

Fourth thing to note: Sticky tape, tends to, well… stick to things. Things that are directly below it.

After a short while, my right hand was firmly back holding steady the wayward piece of paper. My left hand automatically reaches up to retrieve the tape.

It’s amazing how sensitive our sense are, and how slow our (well my) brain is in comparison. My hand noted more resistance than if the tape was just slightly attached onto the edge of my teeth as it should be, and yet my brain said “eh, pull anyway”.

Riiiiiiiip.

I tasted blood before I could feel the pain, oddly enough. But it only took a second or so to feel lots of both. Rushing to the mirror I looked, and there it was, a gash that runs a fourth of a way across the soft, inner part of my lips.

I’m okay now, bleeding long stopped but my lips are still sore. Moral of the story - do not put tape in mouth.

Leech.

Another dream

I think I’m blogging too much. Ah well, perhaps better than none at all?

Anyway, I had this bizarre dream yesterday night (though not as weird as hers).

It was a very… “big” dream if that makes sense.

Set in an amusement park which I’m certain has occurred in my dreams before, it wasn’t a very pleasant one. It was scary and dark with sharp shadows thrown out everywhere, loud, hurtful circus music and underlying chaos. It reminded me of the abandoned amusement park in one of the Cowboy Bebop episodes.

I was with my friends I know IRL. The park was huge, with many twists and turns and so it was very easy to get lost. And guess what, I did. I left my glasses and mobile phone somewhere and I couldn’t see or contact anyone. Very very disconcerting feeling. All my close friends had disappeared off somewhere, those I did see just turned away and continued walking. Only until a passing acquaintance stopped and guided me around until I found my items. I remember walking into this old, many storey rickety house that just screamed “haunted!” in vibe. If only I could draw. But it was the type with stairs to no where, random arms glued to wall, very surreal. Very dark grey.

It was a rather unpleasant dream, and I woke up more tired and grouchy than I should be. Ack.

Any excuse to…

I generally hate cleaning of any sort, but it’s been loads of fun sorting through my computer. Surprising all the stuff that builds up throughout the years. Interesting things I’ve found so far:

- Approximately (give or take a hundred or so) 6300 screencaps Fiona has taking of all FB episodes (we’re looking at 358mb total). Of which the first four episodes has been pruned down to 100 images per episodes then further down again to 50 images per episode.
- One finished Ayame shrine minus the media section.
- 180 or so wallpapers
- Very large amounts of unsorted site-related files
- 1800+ mp3 files (no wonder my space is disappearing)
- Still at least another 3/4 of the computer to sort through. Loooong process.

Man, I have such a craving for books buying. I saw this GORGEOUSLY bound complete works written by Jane Austen. Although I am still very scarred from reading Emma, people like Alexa has gotten me very curious about Pride and Prejudice. Same goes for the Bronte sisters. And they were going for around less than $30 I think! And then there is the hardcover Illustrated Guide to the Da Vinci Code!!!! GLOSSY PAPER THROUGHOUT!

I know I’m superficial and all for judging a book by its cover. But when you walk around a bookshop, browsing for the next buy, WHAT exactly do you judge by? I mean, if people put their soul, heart etc into their text, I don’t see why they can’t put that little bit more effort into a cover that really reflect what they write. Their loss for having a shoddy cover and losing potential fans.

Yeah well anyway, the main point of this entry is to plug the chick who made two layouts in two weeks after a year long hiatus, and liek omg, the layout is soooo pretty so you must all visit HER NEW DOMAIN AT ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*cough* Yeah.
